CHINA - YUAN Dynasty (1279 - 1368) - Lot 127
CHINA - YUAN Dynasty (1279 - 1368) CUP in light celadon enamelled porcelain called luanbai (egg white) in the style of shufu (official porcelain) with a moulded decoration under the cover of a frieze of peonies in their foliage. (Minor firing defects). Diameter : 19,3 cm. During the Yuan dynasty, these porcelains were made near Jingdezhen, some of them had the characters "shu" and "fu" (private council) molded in the frieze of the decoration, which gave this porcelain its name. A few thousand pieces were produced but only the most beautiful were selected and intended for the use of high-ranking officers. Some family kilns of the time imitated the official shufu porcelain, but did not include the characters in the decoration, which is the case of this piece Provenance : French private collection Expert : Cabinet Portier
