Greenery with wader and birds - Lot 136
Greenery with wader and birds
Tapestry from the Manufacture Royale d'Aubusson
Late 17th - early 18th century
Woven in wool and silk
H. 2.64 x L. 2.18 m
The tapestry is animated by birds, including a monumental wader, surrounded by greenery. Two dense trees on either side of the composition frame the scene. The stumps visible in the foreground guide the eye towards the central gap, which opens onto palatial architecture, suggesting a human presence in the midst of this abundant nature. Borders with garlands and vases of flowers and fruit, eagles and stylized brackets.
This classic greenery has retained some beautiful colors and its original border.
It appears to be in good condition, with some wear to the silks.
It is reduced in height and probably in width
