Greenery with trees Flemish tapestry Late 17th century Woven in wool and silk H. 2.48 x W.1.39 m This Flemish verdure presents a verdant nature bordered by monumental trees. The foreground is animated by flowers with broad, undulating leaves, which gradually lead the eye towards the field, the tree-lined path and the hamlet. Mountains appear against a sky partly obscured by vegetation. A border of flowers and leaves linked by scrolls and acanthus leaves. Escutcheons adorned with fleur-de-lys are visible in the upper spandrels. This tapestry has retained some of its colors. It shows wear in the silks, old restorations and numerous rewoven parts.
